An iconic institution in the heart of Paris

Located within the Palais de Chaillot — originally designed for the 1878 World Fair and partially rebuilt for the 1937 International Exposition — the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine houses national collections offering an exceptional panorama of architectural history from the Middle Ages to present day.

The world’s largest architecture museum:

The redesign of the museum’s permanent galleries, which span nearly 5,500 m2, aims to reimagine the visitor journey while renewing the museography through new interpretive and mediation tools. Reopening is scheduled for the second half of 2027, marking the institution’s 20th anniversary.

GSM will lead the project’s exhibition design, graphic design and cost management in collaboration with 8’18” (lighting design), ANA - BET (engineering consultancy) and tg·a (heritage architecture consultancy).

With this project, GSM Studios continues to build its presence in Paris, where it now counts close to ten collaborators and a growing portfolio of cultural initiatives across France and abroad, including ongoing commissions for the Musée d'histoire naturelle de Lille, the Musée Beauvoisine in Rouen, and the Carthage National Museum in Tunis.
